1 Government copies of correspondence with the Foreign Office on the subject Extradition between Hongkong and China.
With reference to the directions conveyed by the paragraph of your Lordship's despatch under reply, I have the honour to state that on the 11th April last the Consul at Canton reported that the Vice-Roy had been informed that the persons therein referred to were at the time in Hongkong.
The Captain Superintendent of Police was at once instructed to make enquiries, and he replied that he had no knowledge or reason to believe that they were in the Colony. The Consul was informed by the letter of which a copy is annexed. I have again given instructions to the Captain Superintendent of Police to enquire whether these persons are now in the Colony, in order that if found your Lordship's instructions may be carried out.
I have the honour to be, My Lord, Your Lordship's most obedient humble servant.
